How to Vet an SEO Agency in Abu Dhabi

Search results changed more in the last two years than in the previous ten. Most SEO proposals in this market are still selling the old version.

Search stopped being ten blue links. Google now answers a large share of queries on the results page itself, people increasingly ask assistants instead of search engines, and the traffic that does arrive is more likely to come from someone who already has a specific intent. That is a different business to be optimising for, and most proposals in this market have not caught up.

You can identify the ones that have not in about ninety seconds. They quote a number of keywords. They promise first page positions. They price by volume of content. All three are artefacts of a version of search that is receding.

What a serious proposal looks like now

It starts with an audit you can verify, of your own site, naming actual pages and actual problems. Not a generic score from a tool, which anyone can generate in a minute and which mostly measures whether you have alt text.

It distinguishes between queries worth winning and queries worth mentioning. For an Abu Dhabi business, a search with thirty monthly searches and unmistakable buying intent is worth more than one with three thousand and none. Any agency that ranks opportunities purely by volume is optimising the wrong variable.

It addresses being cited rather than only being ranked. When an assistant answers a question about your sector, it draws on sources. Being one of them is now a real channel, and it rewards clear structured content that states facts plainly, which is a different craft from keyword density.

It has a view on Arabic. In this market Arabic search is less contested and frequently closer to the buyer, and an agency that has not raised it is working from a template.

The technical questions worth asking

Ask how they will measure success if traffic falls while enquiries rise, which is now a realistic outcome. If they cannot answer, they will optimise for the number that flatters them.

Ask what they would fix first on your site and why. A good answer is specific and usually unglamorous: a redirect chain, a set of pages competing for the same query, a page template that buries the answer below three screens of design.

Ask about links, and listen carefully. Buying links from a network is still sold in this region and it still carries risk. What actually works is slower: being genuinely referenced, listed properly in real directories, and covered because you did something worth covering.

Ask who writes. If content is produced by people with no knowledge of your sector, in volume, you will get pages that rank for nothing and read like everyone else's. The pages that earn positions in a technical or regulated field are the ones a practitioner could not have written in an hour.

Reporting that means something

Insist on three things in every report. What changed on the site, so there is a record of work rather than an activity log. What moved, including what moved down. And what it produced in terms your business recognises, which is enquiries and their quality rather than sessions.

Ask for access to everything from day one. Search Console, analytics and the site itself should be in accounts you own. An agency that holds your Search Console holds your history, and history is most of the value.

Timeframes and honesty

Anyone promising results in a month is describing paid advertising or a technical fix that was already broken. Meaningful movement on a competitive commercial query in this market usually takes months, and an agency that says so is telling you the truth in a market where saying so loses pitches.

The reasonable early milestones are technical: crawlability fixed, duplication resolved, the pages you care about actually indexed, the site fast on a phone. Those are checkable in weeks and they are the foundation everything else stands on.

For the underlying technical work, the technical SEO audit checklist is what a competent agency should be working through, and what changed in AI search visibility covers the citation question. Hiring an SEO company in Dubai and vetting a local SEO company cover the commercial side, and answer engine optimisation explains where the traffic is going.
